Slater & Gordon to Acquire D’Arcys Solicitors

The board of recently listed law firm Slater & Gordon Limited (ASX: SGH) announced today that it has executed an agreement for the acquisition of D’Arcys Solicitors, a Brisbane based firm specialising in Military Compensation.

D’Arcys is one of Australia’s leading Military Compensation law firms. Slater & Gordon already has one of the largest Comcare litigation practices and the addition of D’Arcys’ Military Compensation business will make Slater & Gordon the clear leader in federal compensation litigation.

The principal of the D’Arcys practice Vince Green has been contracted to work with Slater &
Gordon for a minimum of 3 years. The D’Arcys staff will move into the Slater & Gordon Brisbane
office shortly after the transaction is completed.
The transaction is subject to the formal adoption of amendments to the law governing legal
practices in Queensland. These amendments, which are in line with laws in most other Australian jurisdictions, are expected to take effect from 1 July 2007. The changes will allow law practices in that state to have non-lawyer shareholders and hence for the publicly listed Slater & Gordon to acquire the Queensland firm.

The D’Arcys acquisition will be Slater & Gordon’s sixth in two years. It is expected that the
effective date of the acquisition would be 1 July 2007 to coincide with the proposed changes to the laws in Queensland.

“D’Arcys will not only significantly increase the depth of our expertise in Comcare and Military
Compensation but will also add further critical mass to our growing presence in Queensland,”
Slater & Gordon managing director Andrew Grech said.
