Law NEWS - Blake Dawson advises BHP Billiton - Offer for Rio Tinto

Blake Dawson are Australian law advisers to BHP Billiton on its all share offer for Rio Tinto, the world's second largest takeover bid, and the largest takeover offer for, or by, an Australian company. The offer was announced on 6 February 2008 and values Rio Tinto (as at that date) at approximately US$150 billion. It will proceed by separate, interconditional offers for each of Rio Tinto plc and Rio Tinto Limited. Dispatch of offer documents is subject to satisfaction of certain pre-conditions including anti-trust and other regulatory clearances.
