Law NEWS - Communications Legislation Amendment
The Communications Legislation Amendment (Information Sharing and Datacasting) Act 2007 (Cth) (Act) commenced in part on 28 September 2007, with the remaining provisions commencing on 29 September 2007.
The Act amends the Datacasting Charge (Imposition) Act 1998 (Cth), Australian Communications and Media Authority Act 2005 (Cth) and the Radiocommunications Act 1992 (Cth). Amongst other things, the Act:
- permits the disclosure by ACMA officials of "authorised disclosure information";
- provides for the disclosure of information, including disclosures by ACMA officials to Ministers, Royal Commissions and certain authorities; and
- inserts a channel B datacasting transmitter licence into the imposition of charge provision in the Radiocommunications Act 1992 (Cth).
