Legal NEWS - ACMA finds 2QBN community radio station has not met the needs of its community

The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has found that the community radio broadcaster 2QBN breached a condition of its licence as well as the Community Radio Code of Practice. ACMA issued a direction to the broadcaster requiring it to review its constitution and on-the-air announcements to direct its focus on local community interests and members. The direction also requires 2QBN to re-establish its Programming Committee and offer compliance training to all of its employees. The direction was issued under powers that came into force in early 2007, which impose a fine of up to $5500 per day for contravening a requirement of a remedial direction.
