Legal NEWS - APEC Data Privacy Pathfinder Initiative
Australia is participating in the APEC Data Privacy Pathfinder Initiative, alongside 12 other APEC member countries (including Japan, China and the US). The initiative implements a series of practical projects that allow business to create its own cross-border privacy rules. Private sector entities, known as "trustmarks" will act as regulators, monitoring the rules and providing a forum for customer complaints. The initiative aims to promote business and consumer confidence in cross-border data flows.
