Legal NEWS - Nine's Outrageous Fortune too outrageous for M classification
The General Television Corporation (Nine) has been found in breach of the Commercial Television Industry Code of Practice by classifying an episode of Outrageous Fortune M when it contained MA15+ material.
The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) received a complaint regarding the sexual content of Outrageous Fortune that exceeded the bounds of the M classification. ACMA found that the episode contained "unrestrained" intimate sexual behaviour and that Nine did not handle an intense theme with care. Nine has responded to the finding by undertaking to reclassify any future broadcasts as MA15+.
