ACCC annual report on telecommunications market indicators
The ACCC has issued its annual report on the telecommunications market (Report). The Report details the revenue, usage and market share numbers of the 5 major service providers (Telstra, Optus, Vodafone, Primus and AAPT) for the 2005-06 financial year.
In brief, the Report indicates that:
- revenue from telecommunications services increased to approximately $18.1 billion;
- the service providers' market shares remain constant, with Telstra at 60%, Optus at 26%, and other carriers holding 13%;
- total revenue for Public Switched Telephone Network services declined by 7.7% to $8.14 billion;
- retail revenue from internet services increased by 32.5% to $2.16 billion; and
- retail mobile services revenue increased by 4.5% to $7.8 billion.
